Personal project - Northern Illustration Prize
Submission for the Northern Illustration Prize on the theme of renaissance, positivity and hope.
Renaissance is a term of Latin origin meaning to be born again and was therefore the name given to the transitional movement in Europe, marked by a humanist revival of classical influence, expressed in a resurgence of the arts and literature. The image illustrates this concept through an approaching birth and the hope and expectations that this moment implies. By portraying a future mother, the image aims to convey her tenderness and positivity and also, the gestation of a new life. She carries the world in her belly, a metaphor for a new beginning possible for all of us, in many possible ways. Finally, the flowers complement the composition, as a representation of life and the flowering of it.
